Five bedroom trends we loved from The Block

If you’re looking to hit the refresh button on your interiors, your bedroom is a great place to start. A bedroom upgrade that incorporates clever styling and storage solutions can have a huge impact on the look and feel of your home. 

In celebration of The Block 2023, we’re looking back at the top five bedroom trends that caught our eye this season. Read on to discover how you can transform your primary, guest or kids’ bedrooms into a cosy sleep sanctuary worthy of your Pinterest board. 

Statement bedheads

Chances are, your bed takes up most of the floor space in your bedroom – so let it do the heavy lifting when it comes to styling. A statement bedhead can serve as a great centrepiece and instantly transform your sleep space.

Take inspiration from Leah and Ash in House 2, who used the Forty Winks Avenue Upholstered Bedhead & Samos Base in Plush Brinjal in the master bedroom. Natural elements

Natural hues and earthy textures were incredibly popular this year, with several contestants using them to bring the outside in and create serene, relaxing spaces. For their master bedroom, Kyle and Leslie in House 1 chose a soft, neutral colour palette, sheer curtains, and the Forty Winks Samos Upholstered Floating Bed Base in Lexus Natural. The result? A tranquil space flooded with natural light during the day and gently illuminated in the evening. 

Take your cue from Eliza and Liberty in House 5 and bring a sense of the outdoors into your bedroom by using plant inspired patterns and prints. For one of their kids bedrooms, they incorporated a statement wallpaper, combined with calming green and neutral hues to create a serene sleeping environment. Smart storage

There’s nothing worse than an untidy bedroom – not only can it cause stress and anxiety, it can also affect the quality of your sleep. On this season of The Block, we loved seeing spacious, inviting bedrooms that were devoid of any clutter.

Sleep first

Our bedrooms are our sanctuaries, and we often use them for more than just sleep – reading books, meditating, practising yoga, catching up on our favourite TV shows… the list goes on. But on this season of The Block, we saw the contestants bring sleep back into the bedroom and make it the main focus of the space with ultra-comfortable and supportive mattresses.

Thoughtful additions

This season of The Block revealed just how important a good wind-down routine is before bed, with several of the contestants incorporating breakout zones to promote rest and relaxation. For example, Steph and Gian in House 4 designed a kids’ bedroom with a small play area featuring the Forty Winks Boori Thetis Square Table and Forty Winks Boori Thetis Chairs.
