Bed bases
Your bed base is the unsung hero of your bedroom, quietly holding everything together while looking fabulous doing it. Whether you’re after something sleek and minimalist or a frame with built-in storage to hide away your clutter, we’ve got you!
Bed bases
A great mattress deserves a great base. The right bed base supports your mattress evenly, helps prevent sagging and keeps your mattress performing at its best for years. Shop standard bed bases in every size and at every price point at Forty Winks.
Why you shouldn't buy a mattress without a base
Your mattress and base work as a team. Even the best mattress can't perform properly on an old, uneven or unsuitable base. Sagging slats, worn springs or a mismatched size can all undo the comfort and support you paid for. Pairing your new mattress with a new base means:
- Even support across the whole mattress, so it sleeps the way it was designed to
- A longer mattress life, with less sagging and fewer dips over time
- Better comfort from night one, with no lumps or bumps from an old foundation
Think of it this way: you wouldn't put new tyres on a car with worn suspension. A new mattress and a new base belong together.
Choose your mattress, then your base
- Find your mattress first: Use Forty Winks bedMATCH® technology to discover the mattress that suits your sleep needs.
- Match it with the right base: Pick a base in the same size that gives your mattress the support it needs.

A base for every budget
From great-value essentials to premium, upholstered foundations, our range covers every price point. Whatever you're spending on your mattress, there's a Forty Winks base to match, so you never have to compromise on support to stay on budget.
Bed base sizes for every room
- Single and King Single: Ideal for kids' rooms and compact spaces.
- Double: Great for solo sleepers who want extra room.
- Queen and King: Perfect for couples or anyone who loves to stretch out.
- Super King: Maximum space for ultimate comfort.
We recommend it. A new mattress on an old or worn base won't get the even support it needs, which can lead to early sagging and less comfort. Buying a mattress and base together means they're matched in size and support, helping you get the most out of your investment.
An old base with sagging, broken slats or worn components can create uneven support, causing your new mattress to dip or wear faster. It can also affect your mattress warranty, as many manufacturers require a suitable, supportive base. Check your warranty terms or ask our team in store.
Start with size: your base should match your mattress exactly, for example a Queen mattress with a Queen base. Then consider your budget, your style and the height you want. Our trusted Sleep advisors can recommend the best base for your mattress type.
Yes. Forty Winks offers bed bases across every price point, from affordable essentials to premium options, so you can find the right support for your mattress whatever your budget.
