About gas lift bed bases
What is a gas lift bed base?
A gas lift bed base features a lift mechanism that makes accessing the hidden storage underneath effortless. Simply lift the mattress for instant storage without breaking a sweat. Unlike traditional bed frames or adjustable bases, gas lift bases give you additional space to store your belongings while keeping your room stylishly clutter-free.
Whether you're upgrading to a gas lift bed base for a sleek storage solution or need something practical for a growing family, gas lift bases are the perfect choice.

A gas lift bed frame uses a clever hydraulic system that lets you lift the mattress platform to reveal hidden storage underneath, perfect for spare bedding, clothes, or anything you want out of sight.
Compared to standard frames, gas lift beds give you extra storage without extra bulk. They're great for apartments, small bedrooms, or anyone who loves a clutter-free space. And don't worry, the lifting mechanism is smooth and safe, so it's easy to use every day.
Most gas lift frames can comfortably hold the combined weight of your mattress and sleepers, but it's always best to check the brand's specifications. To keep your frame in top condition, lift evenly, avoid overloading the storage area, and check bolts and pistons occasionally for tightness.
If you notice any stiffness in the lift action, a quick service can keep things running smoothly.
All gas lift frames sold at Forty Winks include a manufacturer's warranty that covers the mechanism for a set period, usually 1 to 5 years depending on the brand. If your gas struts ever lose pressure or the mechanism feels stiff, our team can help organise replacement parts or service support under warranty.
We recommend gently lifting and lowering the base to avoid strain, and keeping the pistons free from dust. Small care steps that keep your frame performing perfectly for years.
