Storage beds

A storage bed turns the space under your mattress into somewhere useful, so spare linen, out-of-season clothes and bulky bits have a home that isn't the wardrobe floor. This range brings together bed frames and bases with built-in storage, from gas lift and drawer designs to foot-end storage boxes and an electric lift, in sizes from single to super king.

Types of storage bed

There are four main styles. Gas lift beds raise the whole mattress platform on struts to reveal a full-length compartment, which suits bulky items you reach for occasionally. Drawer beds and bases build drawers into the sides or foot of the bed for everyday access, including four-drawer bases such as the Crown Designer Concepts Duo and Crete. Frames such as the Maitland and Lincoln add a storage foot box at the end of the bed. And the Bowen frame goes one step further with an electric lift that raises the base by remote control.

Gas lift or drawers

Choose a gas lift bed if you want the most storage volume and do not need to get to it every day, because you lift the mattress to reach it. Choose drawers if you want everyday access to linen or clothes, and check there is enough clearance beside or at the foot of the bed for them to open fully. Choosing the right storage bed

Measure the room, including the space needed to open drawers or lift the base, and check doorways and stairs for delivery.
